Under secondment to Preston City Council Preston BID (Business Improvement District) is recruiting for the role of City Centre Warden.
Engage with people involved in city centre begging and encourage access to support services from partner agencies.
To investigate and resolve requests for support in regard to antisocial begging within the city centre of Preston.
To prepare and serve statutory notices under the relevant statutory powers, collect evidence, assist in preparing files for legal proceedings and appear in Court on behalf of the City Council of persistent anti-social begging.
To liaise with other council departments and external bodies in order to achieve the role’s objectives.
To prepare reports, letters, notices etc. as required.
To maintain systems and records, including information sources, equipment, computerised records of work activities and actions.
To provide activity updates to the BID and City Council.
Liaising with city centre businesses and city centre Police colleagues.
The ability to plan, organise and manage own workloads, use time effectively and work with the minimum of supervision.
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Ability to build and maintain relationships and to work as part of a team.
Ability to deal with disagreeable behaviour from members of the public and be comfortable working outdoors.
Ability to use Microsoft Office computer software (Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.) or equivalent.
Ability to deliver a service with high standards of customer care to all.
Knowledge of current antisocial behaviour legislation would be desirable as would experience of law enforcement work within the public sector.
Experience of providing a service to the public would is desirable.
A flexible approach to working arrangements as duties will require night time and weekend working.
Hours: 17.5 hours per week (to include some weekends/evenings)
