Qualifications and attributes 

Essential 

• Minimum 3 years’ continuous experience as a practising financial planner

• Regulated Diploma in Financial Planning

• Understanding of UK financial regulatory framework and legislation

• Excellent communication skills both written and verbal

• Excellent computer skills, proficient in Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint

• Excellent interpersonal skills, collaborative working style and commitment to get the job done

• High level of attention to detail

• A demonstrated commitment to high professional ethical standards and a diverse workplace

• Capable of operating in a fast paced and challenging environment

• Ability to give and receive specific, constructive feedback to/from multiple sources

• Ability to look at situations from several viewpoints

• Persuasive and confident with details and facts

• Delegate responsibilities effectively amongst the various support teams 

Desirable 


• Chartered Financial Planner status

• Effective presentation skills 

Responsibilities 

• Comply with the Financial Services and Markets Act 2000, the FCA Statements of Principle & Code of Practice and FCA rules at all times

• Comply with the firm’s Compliance, TCF, T&C, AML, Data Protection and Data Security Procedures at all times

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of the firm’s compliance procedures including, record keeping requirements

• Detailed knowledge and understanding of the firms Adviser Remuneration Scheme

• Achieve Competent Adviser Status within six months of joining the firm

• Understanding of the firm’s employee handbook and associated policies 

Key Tasks 

• Contacting clients/prospective clients and setting up meetings via telephone

• Conducting in-depth reviews of clients’ financial circumstances, current provision and future aims • Analysing information and preparing plans best suited to individual clients’ requirements

• Designing financial strategies

• Assisting clients make informed decisions

• Maintaining all supporting documentation

• Utilising the expertise of the firm’s technical team to research information from various sources and providing clients with information on new and existing products and services

• Liaising with other professionals, such as accountants and solicitors

• Keeping up to date with financial products and legislation

• Commit to a Personal Development Plan and maintain all standards of performance as required by the firm. Specifically, the qualitative measures required to retain your CAS together with the quantitative measures around your production targets
