The Fostering Service is undergoing a restructure and as a result, we have an exciting opportunity for a Support Officer in the fostering service. This role will have responsibilities in both the mainstream and the permanence team, though supervision will lie within the permanence team.
Our fostering service as a whole is established with a range of professionals who bring a variety of differing skills, with access to the therapeutic service Revive. The Support Officer will undertake duties that comprise of supporting carers both in the assessment period and after approval, including fostering panel. Carers will come from a varying range of backgrounds that includes family members, connected persons, potential special guardians and people wishing to become foster carers.
An integral part of this role will involve supporting the social workers on the team with visits, training, support groups, panels, compliance and other specified areas.
Finally and most importantly, there is an expectation that you will work directly with children and young people as a Participation Champion, to ensure that their voice is heard and acted on.
