A well-established family company now in its 62nd year of trading is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer to join its production team in Chorley. Specialising in municipal vehicles, they have created strong relationships with many leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and as a ‘Mercedes-Benz Qualified Partner’, they are able to offer the very best combinations of chassis and bodies to its growing customer base.

As a Mechanical Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
·Assisting the Operations Director and Production Team to improve and update existing designs to achieve the best use of common components, improve quality and reduce assembly times and cost.
·Creating 3D CAD modelling and draft on Autodesk Inventor with components and equipment to aid the Production Team.
·Preparing documentation for manufacture and assembly i.e. drawings, bills of materials etc.
·Liaising with suppliers regarding conformity to order, specification, quality, builds and the purchasing of third-party components.
·Arranging Type Approvals and IVA’s.
·Ensuring conformity of Production Audits.
We are looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer who has the following skills and experiences:
·Proficiency in Autodesk Inventor.
·An HNC/HND qualification or a Degree in Mechanical Engineering.
·Experience and knowledge of AutoCAD.
·Good knowledge of 3D CAD Design packages.
·The ability to read and understand technical drawings.
·Knowledge of geometric and dimensional tolerances.
·Previous experience and a genuine interest in the automotive industry.
In return, a Mechanical Design Engineer will receive a salary of £35,000 - £40,000 per annum.
